Goalie fights and hockey brawls

Something that’s a lot more exciting then hockey fights are goalie fights. The main reason goalie fights are so exciting to players and to the fans; is because it rarely happens. The coaches don’t like when their goalie’s fight. The only reason they don’t like it, is because ninety-five percent of the time, they have their good goalie in net and if he gets injured, the team has a much more higher chance of losing the game. There is also something that’s even more exciting then goalie fights and that’s team brawls. The fans find team brawls to be the most exciting thing they ever seen. More exciting then a gun fight, more exciting then the championship game in over time then shootout and more exciting then when you retire (to hockey fans). Fans love to see it, especially since it rarely happens. Hockey brawls usually happen after a series of fights and for the teams to hate one another. One fight will began, maybe from a dirty hit, then the line gets into it and sometimes, rarely but sometimes, the team will jump the bench at start to fight and it is extremely hard to break it up. For most of the players, it just dies out, but for others, they need to be pulled off or they wont stop.

Hockey fights!-should we keep them?

In my opinion, I believe we should keep fighting in the NHL for several reasons. To begin with, fighting gives that much more excitement to the sport. The fans LOVE it when two hockey players go at it and scrap. Also, it’s a great way to get your anger out; if you’re mad at a player and he’s mad at you back, why not let them go at it? Just don’t let the fight get out of hand. In a hockey fight the referees will let them fight and throw punches, but as soon as one of the players fall to the ice, the referees jump in and break it up. The referees love a little fighting action too, but they don’t need a player who’s severely injured on their hands. In my opinion, hockey players are some of the most dangerous and strong fighters there is. They’re constantly taking shots to their body’s and getting hit into glass and in open ice; the players are skating fast and know how to hit hard as well. From what I said above, hockey players can easily take a punch. Another thing that helps hockey players become good fighter, is the fact that they get extremely angry at one another and don’t feel the pain as much or at all for that matter. So they will just keep swinging, blocking and punching until his opponent’s on the ice and then keep punching until the referees force him off.

All-Star competition

I have to say, in my opinion, the All-star competition is the most exciting and entertaining part of the entire season of hockey. I believe it is more exciting then the playoffs, the juniors and the Canadians. In the All-star coemptions, there are many different activities and categories to go through in the All-star games. To begin, there is the hardest shot competition, fastest skater, best puck handler and break away challenge. For the hardest shot it’s simple pretty simple, the player gets two shots, they put the puck at the hash marks and the players start at the blue line. When they blow the horn, the player skates up and takes a slap shot into the net where it is then recorded to how fast it went. For the fastest skater, they have one or two players (depending if their racing or not) at the horn, skate around the entire rink and around the nets once, then get back to where you began. For the best puck handler, they put a series of cones around the ice and they players have to go around the cones and back before the other player does without losing control of the puck. The player must have one hundred percent control of the puck the entire time. Finally, there is the break away challenge. The players get two chances to get goals. They start at centre ice, move in on the goalie and they will try to pull off their fanciest move and to get a goal at the same time. Right after their first shot, they come back around, pick up another puck then do their second shot.

Chara beats the record for the hardest shot

It is amazing how hard these hockey players can shoot a puck. In the NHL 2009 super skills all star competition, Chara, Captain for the Boston Bruins, brakes the all time record for the hardest shot. From what I’ve seen, the hardest shot I’ve ever seen in this NHL competition was 98 miles/hours (I watch the All-star competition every year). Chara blows out the competition with his second shot (the players only get two shots). His first shot wasn’t too good, but his second blew out the competition, his second shot was 105.4 miles par hour, hardest anyone has ever seen. Chara was surprised him self, but he claims to of been practising his slap shot for the longest time, since the beginning of the NHL season in 2008. He hasn’t perfected it though until a little less then half way through his season. Chara always had a good wrist shot, but his slap shot and his ability to control the puck and move in fluently, but his slap shot needed improvement. After he got his slap shot down (It didn’t even need to be good) he got promoted captain.) It pays off in the end though, Chara brakes the record for the hardest shot ever recorded.

Hockey sticks improve game play.

In my opinion, I believe that the better hockey stick you own, the better shot you`ll have in a game. Everyone has their different taste for hockey sticks, but I personally think that hockey sticks with a big flex to the main base when you add pressure, is really good and will allow you to fire off a mean shot (wrist shot, slap shot or snap shot). Also, if you’re a hockey player that enjoys doing tricks with the pucks, for example: most players enjoy trying to pick the puck up with their sticks, you need a good flex in your stick to be able to do that. Without that flex, you would not be able to do this trick. Another thing that makes a stick good or not, our the one or two piece sticks. In my opinion, the sticks with only one part are most likely to brake or snap over time. As for a stick with a two piece part, will last a lot longer then the one piece. However, the one piece has a huge advantage to the two piece, the one piece has more of a flex at the bottom, as the two piece has none. Also, the two piece are usually a lot heavier then the one piece.

Canada vs USA game

I found the Gold medal junior game between Canada and USA to be extremely entertaining, heart racing and breath taking all at the same time, but at different times in the game. The game was intense from beginning to end, Canada scored early in the game, but from that point on, it was head to head hockey. USA would score one to make it one all, then Canada again. This went on until the third point, then USA pulled ahead by two in the third period to make it 5-3 USA. When there was about five minutes left in the game, that’s when the pressure got to Canada. Canada began to panic and handled to puck extremely poorly and made unwise passes. USA players showed no sympathy for Canada by blocking not just one, but almost every shot that Canada had to throw at them in the third period, USA did a very good job defensively. When ever Canada did get a decent chance to have a shot, they ether missed or shot it right at the goalies chest. Canada just couldn’t get by the USA, until Jordan Eberle got two back to back goals within the dying minutes to make it 5-5 and force and over time. The over time did not last long, Canada got a few chances, one really good one; a drop pass at the hash marks then a bullet of a slap shot, but the USA goalie stopped that then passed it out. USA scored the very next rush, right after Canada shot it. John Carlson came down the left side at full speed, then took a wrist shot passed the Canadian goalie on the top left hand side. Canada battled hard all game, especially to come back 5-3, but couldn’t put it away in the end.

Jordan Eberle

In my opinion, Jordan Eberle was the star of this entire junior tournament. He is an amazing hockey player with unbelievable talents and the crazy ability to score goals like it’s nothing. Jordan Eberle was the hero of the game between Canada and the USA. Down by two (5-3), all the pressure is on Canada; sticks felt heavy and the puck seemed impossible to handle. They constantly gave it up and made terrible passes which USA picked up with pride. The pressure though didn’t seem to effect Jordan Eberle, in the dying minutes, he seemed to come back already with a few goals that game and put two more in the back of the net to make it tied with about 40 seconds left. Canada unfortunately lost in the over time of 20 minutes, but it was thanks to Jordan Eberle that they got the chance to go into over time against the USA. The championship game was also almost exact to New Years eve game, Canada vs. USA, Canada down by two; they come back and score two goals to lead it into overtime. Only this time, Canada lost. Jordan Eberle made Canada happen, thanks to him, they can say that they made it to overtime against another very good team.
